At the intersection of vision and delivery, 45th Parallel Consulting helps organizations close the gap between strategic intent and capital project results — with clarity, alignment, and disciplined execution.
Geographically, the 45th parallel north lies exactly halfway between the Equator and the North Pole — a rare point of equilibrium between two extremes. Long used for navigation, it is a natural reference point for orientation and purpose.
We apply this same concept to business. 45th Parallel Consulting operates at the intersection of strategy and execution, helping organizations find their bearing and move forward with confidence. By balancing thoughtful strategy with disciplined execution, we provide clarity, alignment, and momentum to deliver complex programs, manage risk, and achieve outsized, sustainable results.
We hold strategy and execution in equal regard — never favoring elegant frameworks over real-world delivery, or operational speed over sound design.
Complex challenges deserve clear answers. We cut through ambiguity to surface actionable insights that leadership teams can align behind and act on.
Every engagement is guided by a single north star: sustainable results. We measure success not by deliverables produced but by impact achieved.
Like the parallel itself, we serve as a reliable reference point — helping organizations orient themselves and chart a confident path forward through complexity.
We help cross-functional teams improve projects, programs, and portfolios through targeted strategy, capital efficiency, and operational excellence — at any stage of the capital project life cycle.
We help organizations assess their readiness to execute on capital ambitions and identify where investment will generate the greatest returns.
We design governance, organization, and technology models that align your future state with your strategic vision and capital delivery ambitions.
We guide organizations through the full transformation journey — from change vision through roadmap execution — with the rigor needed to make change stick.
Through increased selectivity, operational discipline, and control, we help organizations reduce performance deviation and unlock scale across their capital portfolios.
We assess and redesign PMO capabilities, governance frameworks, and delivery processes to position program offices for sustained high performance.
From system architecture to full deployment, we design and manage digital transformations that align technology investments with long-term capital delivery goals.
Every engagement follows a proven framework — adapted to your context, never templated. We invest deeply in understanding your organization before we recommend anything.
We invest time upfront to understand your organization, challenges, stakeholders, and ambitions — before proposing any approach or solution.
Rigorous analysis — quantitative and qualitative — to surface the real problem beneath the presenting one, identify gaps, and quantify opportunities.
We co-create solutions with your team. Models, roadmaps, and governance frameworks that your organization can genuinely own and execute.
We stay through implementation — adapting, coaching, and measuring until the results are real, measurable, and built to last.

A sample of the engagements where 45th Parallel Consulting has helped organizations close the gap between strategy and execution.
45th Parallel Consulting supported one of the world's top 10 gold mining companies in assessing the readiness of a proposed $1.6 billion CAD mine expansion project in Africa. Through an independent review of the EPCM contractor's project execution plan against leading mining industry practices, we identified critical execution risks, governance gaps, and project control deficiencies. The assessment provided the insight needed for the owner to defer Final Investment Decision (FID) approval, reducing the risk of advancing a major capital project before key design, planning, and risk management activities were sufficiently mature.
45th Parallel Consulting developed a target governance model playbook to help this client capture, standardize, and disseminate their core project planning, execution, management, controls, and procurement practices. The guidebook was developed to be an industry best practice approach to managing international construction projects throughout their entire life cycle.
45th Parallel Consulting provided a post-construction assessment of this client's $67M USD 29 MW solar power plant. The project was intended to be a pilot to showcase the client's capabilities in solar, but the client experienced significant cost and schedule delays resulting in overall investor discontent. We identified control breakdowns and unaccounted for costs, and quantified additional funds necessary to complete construction through recommended corrective actions.
This client requested a digital transformation roadmap for their Planning, Design, and Construction department, focusing on improving existing strategic, project management, project support, and asset operations capabilities. 45th Parallel Consulting delivered recommendations to improve current use of technology systems, existing policies, procedures and processes, organization model, opportunities for continued learning, and future technology support model.
45th Parallel Consulting designed this client's target operating model in conjunction with the implementation of a new Project Management Information System (PMIS) for the Construction Organization's Project Management Office (PMO). Through interactive workshops and awareness sessions we established the organization and governance vision, and incorporated the client's technology model to provide a comprehensive future state deliverable.
45th Parallel Consulting conducted multiple engagements during construction of this major public agency's new headquarters building including an assessment of the organization's risk related to contract types and committed vendors, audits of costs incurred, and testing of processes and internal controls. The results provided this client with assurance that construction was being performed in alignment with best industry practices and at the lowest cost and risk to the organization.
45th Parallel Consulting partnered with a California water and wastewater utility to modernize its capital project management practices through the implementation of a new Project Management Information System (PMIS). We designed future-state business processes, developed governance and operating procedures, managed implementation activities, and trained end users to ensure a successful transition. The result was a more standardized, transparent, and scalable project delivery framework that improved organizational efficiency and decision-making.
45th Parallel Consulting completed a post-construction assessment of this client's $200M USD 26,600 DWT ro-ro car truck carrier vessel — the largest ship the company had ever built. During construction, the client experienced significant cost and schedule delays resulting in a large capital loss. Our analysis uncovered control breakdowns and inefficient project management practices, and we provided corrective detailed actions for the client to implement on future projects.
To accomplish this client's long-term capital strategy, management recognized that changes to their current operating model were needed. 45th Parallel Consulting completed a strategic assessment of their capital project portfolio's capabilities and designed a business transformation roadmap detailing how to bridge the gap between current and target state capabilities through standardization of process strategies and templates to drive consistency in project management and controls.
